December 2013 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

I love putting together pretty packages!  Next to making cards it is my favorite thing to do.
Today, I am sharing some bags I put together for Christmas gifts.

I took a paper lunch bag, cut the end off, folded the bottom over, then did a little sewing and bam a new look!  It was perfect for fitting five cards and five envelopes in.

Happy Birthday with Sassafras

I have seriously been needing to go through my paper scraps.  My storage bin is overflowing right now.  As I was digging through it the other day I came across some Ellie's Tale paper by Sassafras.  Such a cute set, that I have been sitting on way to long.  I added some ribbon from a Studio Calico kit  (Mays Art) and BAM! I was done!

Blow it out!

I love getting the Studio Calico Card Kit in the mail!  Every month I am pretty excited about the stamp set, but this month I was crazy for the sentiments and the images.

Hello with Washi Tape

Hello there,

Today I'm stopping in to share a little ole' card I put together using a combination of Studio Calico kits.

Hobbies By Hollie: Designed by Hollie Shepard

I did a little something different with the washi tape.  It is a little see through, so I decided to do some random coloring underneath before attaching the tape.  I started by marking out the width of the tape and then just scribbled away with my markers.

I really, really like how it turned out!

Man, do I love that May Arts ribbon!

Moxie Fab Thanks Blog Hop

Welcome to the Hop! If your here from Frances Byrne's Blog then you came the right way!

The Moxie Fab World has been my number one source for card making inspiration.  When I wanted to make a card, I would stop in and look around and always come away with inspiration.

Cath did a great job keeping us up on the trends in the crafting world, so today I am sharing a card with my two of my favorites, watercolor and hexagons.

Paper Crafts Nov/Dec 2013 Published Card

Today I am sharing one of my all time favorite cards.  This little darling was published in the November/December 2013 digital issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.

Design by Hollie Shepard:Hobbies by Hollie

Funny thing about this card.  I remember the moment I thought of this sketch.  I was sitting in my big comfy leather chair holding my newborn, my older two boys were asleep.  I was just dying to get some crafting time in, but I knew it would be a while.  I had just got a whole bunch of sequins I was dying to use! Inspiration struck, and I just sketched away.

I have discovered I am a CAS girl at heart.  My whole life I have been trying to add details that just don't work for me.  I have to be honest with myself.  I am better at the simple look.  Turns out, I actually really like this discovery about myself.

If you would like a better view of this card be sure to check out this months digital issue of Paper Crafts.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop: Five Easy Christmas Tags

I have an addiction to jars and this addiction has pretty much caused me to become a hoarder of jars.  I just can't throw them away.  Baby food jars, spaghetti jars, fruit jars, you name it, I have to keep them.  So I'm thinking this Christmas all my gifts will be wrapped in, you guessed it JARS!  My children will only be getting matchbox cars and little army men, you know the kind of stuff that fits in jars. :)

So what better way to display my tags then with some bakers twine and a jar!

Anyway, on to the details of my tags I made for the Papertrey Blog Hop!

I had to keep it pretty simple and pretty quick (we are in the middle of some remodeling).  I grabbed the Framed Out #12 die and stamp set and used that as my starting point.  I am really drawn to the Scarlet Jewel, Aqua and Gold color combo for Christmas so, that is what I went with today. I decided to add dimension with some SEI Gold Dots.  I love the Gold, but you could easily add red dots if you were going for a more classic color combo.

Well, that's it for today,

Simple Fall Entry Table

When I moved into my new home I took it as an opportunity to start with a blank slate and decorate my home how I had always wanted it to be.  I am easily overwhelmed when it comes to choices and since I didn't want this to happen I took to the good old internet and did some research.  I stumbled across this post on Style Words on the Fieldstone Hill Design blog. After doing her style exercises I became confident in making choices and never again will I have designer paralysis, as she calls it.
The only question was where do I begin?

In my opinion, the entrance to your home is very important.  After all, it is the first thing people see.  So this is the first place I started.  I had an entry table that I bought at a garage sale for $20 and from there I started building my perfect entry.

My favorite thing about the entry is this Wreath.
The first thing I made was this wreath.  I just love the homey feeling you get when you see a wreath.  It was really simple and cheap to put together.  I grabbed a green foam wreath from Hobby Lobby, wrapped it with fabric and added the diy flowers.

I put together my own printable in Picasa and printed it on colored cardstock
Don't you just love pumpkins?  I'm pretty sure they are the most versatile decor item for fall. I painted one of my pumpkins with chalkboard paint and drew a little heart on it.  I just love that you can paint anything with chalkboard paint and it insistently looks awesome!

Well, that's it for today.

Birthday Cards

Today I am sharing some Birthday Cards I put together for a friend.  I really love putting gift sets together! Anyway,  I have a lot of new Studio Calico stamps that haven't been touched because I recently moved.  It was great to get out like five sets that haven't been touched and get to work.   These are my 2 favorite from the 20 I made.

Happy Birthday

I love spray mist, and gold . I just love the look of just a bit of gold popping of the card. That's what I was going for on today's card. I have been trying to fit in card making, but I am still in that busy newborn stage and combine that with my other busy boys and I have my hands full.

I used a gold marker to add color to the edges of red chevron patterned paper.

That's it for today,
Hollie

Papertrey Ink Challenge

I tell you, I just can't resist one of Nicole's Challenges over on the Papertrey Ink Blog.  Today, she asked everyone to make a homemade accessory.   It was easy to find a lot of inspiration blog hopping to all the designers websites, but also looking at Pinterest you see a ton.  I found this site that has 25 DIY hair accessories.  They are all adorable and pretty easy.

To make my little bobby pin I :

1. Die cut 2 flowers using the Beautiful Blooms Die and Melon Berry felt

2. Free hand two leaves from Simply Chartreuse felt

3. Hot glue together, then add decorative stitching.

4.Cut a circle from fabric and glue

5. Add sequins

Pretty easy and not bad for a first go.

Papertrey Ink: Watercolor Challenge

Today I am sharing a little project I got to work on with my boys.  My boys love to watercolor, so this was a perfect time to get the stuff out and do a project together.

Here is my inspiration found on pinterest

Here is my card:

I grabbed my heart dies from Papertrey and die cut the medium sized heart on a strip of paper.  Then I made my color selections, Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise (turned out a little dark), Raspberry Fizz, and Orange Zest.   Using watercolor on cards is soon becoming one of my favorite techniques.  My Great Grandma use to be a wonderful painter and this reminds me of her.

Papertrey Ink: Sketch Challenge

Here is my take on the sketch:

I got to play with some new PTI stamps and really can't get enough of these little squares!  They really have so many possibilities and how about the sentiments by Dawn.

Guess what?  Today I needed a gift card holder and it just so happens to fall on the day where it works with a PTI Anniversary Challenge

Here is my pinterest inspiration.

I really love all of these colors together and I plan on working with them some more when I have time.
I quickly put together this gift card holder using a Timeless Template by Papertrey (I had completely forgotten about them until today).  I used the Cash or Charge Template and really love how the little gift card has a stand to sit in (Here are some great pictures from Nichole's Blog).  The picture doesn't really show it, but I stamped the tiny flowers from Happy Hydrangea in Versamark Dazzle (Man, I love that stamp set).

I wanted the holder to be a little more crisp, but my little guy woke up just as I was brainstorming, so I kind of rushed it.

Enjoy Your Special Day

Popping in super quick to share a couple of quick cards.  I had the chance to make a few cards a week ago or so, while the kids were napping.  I felt really inspired by some of the new PTI products I recently purchased.   I love this new little frame and also I am loving the Limeade Ice Ink !
I have been in a card making funk for a while, maybe it is my pregnancy brain.  This new little guy is due in 3 weeks so I am taking a break hoping my mojo will come back soon.

January 2013 PTI Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo

It's been so long since I have been able to sit down and make a card.  Both kids have been sick and with pregnancy it has been so draining.

I put together this card super fast last night.  It was really hard to work with black, not sure but I think I was over thinking it.  I do like a challenge, so I gave it a try! :)
