Quinoa Crunch and Berries

Hello, today I just have to share one of my new favorite breakfasts, Greek Yogurt with Quinoa Crunch and Berries. Once you mix this stuff up it is so easy to grab breakfast really fast (which is great with kids, my boys eat and are ready to play so I have to hurry).

FOR THE QUINOA CRUNCH

1 cup quinoa

1/4 cup flaxseed

1T honey

1 T olive oil

1. Mix all ingredients together. 2. Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 375 deg. F oven until lightly browned. (You might stir every 10 minutes for about 25 - 30 minutes.)

3. Let cool, crumble.

Serving Size 2T.

Calories per serving: 131.2

Recipe is from "The Master your Metabolism Cookbook" By Jillian Michaels

Place 1/2c. Plain Greek Yogurt in a small serving bowl with a 1/2c. of your favorite berries, then top with 2 T. Quinoa Crunch and drizzle with 1/2t. honey.

Valentine for a Friend

Hi There! Today I am stopping in to share a Valentine's Day card I made for a friend.

I have been trying to use my dies in different ways, so for the first card I cut 2 1/2 inches off the bottom. Then I die cut half of Mat Stack 5 and added Sweet Blush cardstock from PTI to complete the card. You may have noticed the cute little heart. That little number was crochet by a family friend and she gave me some to use for cards! They are so fun!

This next card was something I put together for a PTI Challenge, but do to poor lighting I couldn't take a picture in time. I thought I would share it anyway. I really like how it turned out and love this paper from My Little Shoebox

Today I am back again playing along with the PTI gang in the sketch challenge. All the sketches were really awesome, but #5 stood out to me. Here is my take on the card:

I took my picture a little late so my picture doesn't have the best lighting. :( I am really happy with how the card turned out. I am so in to stamping on pattern paper lately. Today I used Rosie Posie on some My Mind's Eye from the Lost and Found set. Rosie Posie by the way is my favorite stamp set right now. It goes with anything! :)

A Lamp I Can Love

Hello All,

I have had a lamp. I absolutely hate looking at it, in my opinion it is ugly all day. It has been sitting on one of our end tables for almost five years, not being used, just sitting. I decided to do some research and see if I could make it into a lamp I could love!!! :) I discovered you can in fact successfully spray paint a lamp or anything for that matter with a little primer and a lot of spray paint.

Here is the lamp before:

So sad and lonely, never used except for by my boys (who loved knocking it of the table).

With a lot of Krylon Primer and Flat Black Spray Paint here is what she looks like now.

Now it is actually being used, and I love it. I love the feeling of turning something from ugly into something I love. I was also so excited to get the lamp shade, I had my eye on for 2 months, for only $13 from Target. Each can of spray paint was $5 but when I bought them they were 30% off at Hobby Lobby. So I spent about $20 bucks to make the lamp new and it was given to me years ago for FREE.

TIPS: Make sure you clean the metal and also sand off any rust. Also follow directions on can very carefully for the best look.

Jillian Michaels Recipes and a card

Starting off with a card I just made with the new LOVE and Marriage and Rosie Posie sets from PTI. I first have to say I fell in love with the fonts of this set!! So pretty! I used the new color from PTI Canyon Clay with some Aqua Mist (I love the orange with light blue look). I love the rhinestone look Maile created on her card here. I paired the rhinestones with a some painted roses and that's the card.

Now to some recipes. I started the Ripped in 30 with some friends on Facebook. The DVD comes with a free 30 day meal plan. Today I am going to share some recipes my family has enjoyed so far.

BBQ Chicken and Black Bean Burrito
1 tablespoon olive oil
¾ pound skinless, boneless organic chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
½ cup onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup low-sodium barbeque sauce
15 ounces of low-sodium black beans, rinsed and drained
½ cup (2 ounces) organic reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
4 Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted grain tortillas
¼ cup organic nonfat plain Greek yogurt
Preparation
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken, onion, and garlic; cook 8 minutes or until chicken is done, stirring constantly. Stir in barbeque sauce and beans. Sprinkle with cheese; cook 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Warm tortillas in skillet until lightly brown. Spoon about ½ cup chicken mixture down the center of each tortilla; top each with 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt, and roll up.
Serves 4. 368 Calories per serving, 13.3 g Fat, 29.1 g Carbohydrate, 544 mg Sodium, 4.8 g Fiber,
34.9 g Protein

This burrito is so easy and yummy! I don't know why I never came up with it.

Black Bean Chili

1 cup dried black beans, rinsed

1 tablespoons olive oil
1 onions, finely chopped
1 green peppers, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/2 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 pinches ground black pepper
1 14-ounce can diced organic tomatoes with their juice
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1 to 2 teaspoons chopped chipotle chilies in adobo (optional)
1/4 cup medium-grain dried bulgur
pinch salt
2 tablespoons minced scallions (white and green parts), for garnish
2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro, for garnish
4 lime wedges, for garnish

Preparation

Place the beans in a colander and pick over them to remove any debris, then rinse and drain. Place them in a Dutch oven or other large, heavy pot and add water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, partially covered, until almost tender, about 1 hour. Drain and set aside.
Heat the oil in the same large pot over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Add the onions and the green peppers and cook, stirring occasionally, until just starting to brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in the chili powder, the cumin, the oregano, the cinnamon, and the black pepper. Then stir in the tomatoes, the orange zest and juice, the honey, the chipotle, and 1.5 cups of water. Add the reserved beans. Return to a simmer, and cook, partially covered, checking occasionally and adding more water and needed, until the beans are just tender to the bite, about 1 1/2 hours. Stir in the bulgur 15 minutes before removing the chili from the heat. Add pinch of salt.
Divide the chili into 4 bowls and top each serving with the scallions, the cilantro, and a lime wedge, if desired, or pass the toppings separately at the table.
Servings: 4. 297 Calories per serving, 4.7 g Fat, 52.9 g Carbohydrate, 14.6 Protein

I wanted to see my husbands reaction to this recipe so I didn't tell him about the orange juice or honey (he doesn't like to know if weird things are added lol). Anyway he just kept going on and on about how great it was. I made some changes to fit what I had on hand, I didn't have bulgar so I used brown rice instead, also I used canned beans which saved some time.

I recently got the The Master Your Metabolism Cookbook by Jillian Michael's free, I just had to pay $4.95 for shipping (so that's cheap).

Here is a few recipes I love!

Banana Almond Smoothie

1c. sliced banana

1c. almond milk

1T. Almond butter

1 T. ground flaxseed

1t. vanilla extract

2c. ice cubes (about 8)

Place the banana, almond milk, almond butter, flaxseed, and vanilla. Blend until well combined. Add the ice cubes and blend until smooth.

Serves 2

Calories: 167.6, Fat: 7.8g, Protein: 3.2g, Carbs: 22.6g Sodium: 112.6g

Since we like dessert around here I had to try something sweet from the Cookbook

Fudge Brownies

Olive oil spray for pan

2/3 cup honey (she suggests clover or orange blossom I just used regular honey)

1/3 cup natural, unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup white whole wheat flour

1/4t. aluminum free baking powder

1/4t. baking soda

1/4t. salt

1/2c. unsweetened applesauce

2 T. Olive Oil

1 Large egg, at room temperature

3/4 t pure vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8 inch pan with olive oil spray. Set aside

Place honey in a large glass measuring cup. Microwave on high until honey is runny and just bubbling, about 45 to 60 seconds. Add the cocoa and stir with fork until well combined. Let cool to room temperature.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Whisk until well combined.

In a large bowl, combine the applesauce, oil, egg, and vanilla. Whisk together until well blended. Add the honey cocoa mixture and whisk until smooth. Add the flour mixture to the liquid mixture and stir until no trace of flour remain. Scrape the batter into the pan.

Bake until the surface looks dry around the edges and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs, about 25 minutes (took closer to 30 for me). Do not over bake. Let cool completely before slicing. Makes 16 2 inch squares.

Per 2 inch square

Calories: 86.2, Fat: 2.2g Protein: 1.3g, Carbs: 16.0g Sodium: 63.6mg

My hubby loved this one as well, so that means we will have it again! :)

Christmas Decor

Hello All,

Today I am popping in to share some of my Christmas Decor. This year is about the only Christmas since I married my husband where I have had some real time to devote to decor ideas (I have always had a really little one or been pregnant).
I have always love the rustic looking Christmas, and while walking around Michaels I found a 10 yd roll of burlap for 4.99 and I had a 40% off coupon so I had to get it!

My favorite project was putting the jars together (I got the idea from pinterest!). I really love how they turned out and it was so simple. Also, clear Christmas Balls are the bomb, I stuffed some with burlap and wrapped some with old book paper and added some glitter! I had so much fun!

Hello All,

Popping in to share a little something I have been working on. A while back I was thinking of making something to keep track of all the cute little things my 3 year old says daily. I wanted something small that could be put in my purse or sit on the counter without being a big deal. I came across a set of little Composition notebooks at Target that were perfect (soft and bendable cover).

I pulled out one of my favorite paper lines from My Minds Eye "Lost and Found Two"(I have almost gone through the 6 x6 pad in a month, LOVE IT!) and covered the notebook. I decorated the front with items I had in my random button jar. The felt is from Papertrey Ink along with the flower die used to create the flower (although I did make changes to the flower to make it my own) I have already started writing things down and since he says so much that deserves to be written down it is permanently sitting on the kitchen counter.

Here is a journal I made for a friend who just had her second little one.I like this one a lot better, mainly because of the paint splatters, which are so fun!! I got a wide mouth mason jar and decorated it with matching paper (sadly pictures didn't turn out). I think Journal Jars are awesome gifts for Mothers, because there are always things to write down. Putting a decorated jar on your counter looks a lot better than just a notebook. :)

Trigger Tuesday: Beads and Baubles

Today I am sharing my card for this weeks Trigger Tuesday Challenge. After seeing this picture over at The Moxie Fab World I pulled out my jar of trinkets my mom gave me a while back. (This jar has really come in handy the last couple of weeks!!) Anyhoot, in this jar was a pearl earring just waiting patiently to be used. My inspiration for my card came from the yellow flower with the pearl center.

I am really happy with my card! I had so much fun putting it all together from the paint splatter to the little flowers, and I can truly say this is my style of card. (I used acrylic paint mixed with a little water for the splatter)

Refrigerator Magnet

Howdy,

Today I am sharing a little something I made with a new paper line I found over at Twopeas, Authentique Paper!! I used two coasters and some pattern paper from The Splendid Collection to put together this refrigerator magnet.

I picked my favorite pictures of my boys and cut them into 3 inch squares. The two coasters are put together with button twine and then I placed small magnet strips on the back.

Here it is on the fridge, :)

Moxie Fab Botanical Challenge

Yellow Meets Grey....Grey Meets Yellow

Happy Thursday Afternoon,

I have to say I am in love with Yellow and Grey!! I mentioned it in my post yesterday and also my blog is decked out in what else but Yellow and Grey!! So today yet again I am sharing some projects with Yellow and Grey. I must warn you however that my pictures aren't very good because I was wrestling this little guy!! OK, here we have a gift bag and card for a Birthday I have coming up this weekend.

I really like butterflies also!!!

Here I used some Bazzill Paper, the lighter color is Tin Roof and it is embossed with flowers. The yellow is Harvest Gold from Papertrey Ink.

(Below) Last but not least, one of my favorite cards! For this one I used American Crafts Glitter Thickers (Niki Riki in Sunflower). I drew the heart by hand, cut it out, then stamped YOU from Technique Tuesday Smooch Set. Love that set by the way!!

Hello All,

I am in kind of late tonight to share a card for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. This is my first CAS challenge to try , so I am super excited to share my card!!

First off, this card is HUGE!! Anyway, I am kind of in LOVE with yellow and grey right now! So it may look a little strange to use those colors for a Birthday card but hey I had to try right!

Stamp-a-faire Challenge #1

Well I am in to the ole blogo kind of early today to participate in the Stamp-a-Faire Challenges with PTI. If you place an order for over $100 you get a free set today only. Since I have already spent my craft budget for the month I decided I would have some fun and try to win the free set!

We are having company over today so my DH watched the boys while I put together a card, hopefully I can come back and share more. The first challenge was to create a project featuring patterned strips created with your favorite decorative element. For my card I paired the Polka Dot II with buttons and rinestones!! I colored the rinestone brown with a marker to blend in more with the overall colors.

Make It Monday #24: Dry Brushing

Hello,
Back again today to share my Make it Monday Card!! This weeks technique is Dry Brushing and since I love paints of any kind I had to put something together. Today I created a little postcard for a little baby girl using the Postmarks set and the Button Card die. I find that this little Button Card Die is the perfect size to create the look of a little postcard. I used Versamark Dazzle to stamp the little flower on the background. I like the look, but if I were doing this card again I would probably just leave the background clean, so that the focus could be on the postcard. Sweet Blush has been the last color I am slowly adding to my collection of PTI colors. I though I would never use pink, but I love it so much (the ribbon is my favorite)!

Today I am leaving you with a quote I love .... "All dreams come true ...if you have the courage to pursue them."

I have been thinking a lot about my dreams and my hopes. It seems like the older my kids get the more precious life seems to be and I am realizing how fast if goes by. There are so many things I would love to do in life and sometimes I stop myself from even trying. I know that God has a plan and a place for me, but I am kind of scared to find out what it might be.

Week 4 Color Combo: Summer Online Card Class

Hello All,

Today's post showcases my Week 4 Color Combo Card! I can't believe this is the last week!

I have learned a lot about color in these past 3 weeks. Putting more than three colors together on a card has always been a challenge for me, so working on the color combos each week has been great practice. Speaking of more than 3 colors I went ahead and added three more colors to the color combo. (he he) As I was working on this card I realized it was missing an element and decided I would add some color to make the balloons float off into the sunset. Since the colors are no where close to the colors in the combo I realize I may be breaking the rules lol! But for the sake of the card I had to put the extra colors. I firmly believe that art shouldn't have rules, it should just be fun! Blah Blah, So anyway I hope you enjoyed my explanation. lol

I started out by inking up Hero Arts Background Clouds stamp just on the edges with PTI's Hawaiian Shores. This left an available space for the bright shiny sun, which I added by sponging Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise and Sweet Blush.

The small button doesn't quite show up but it does match the lightest of the blues and it comes from PTI. The dark blue button is Sassafras and the other button hails from Micheal's.
The sentiment and Hot Air Balloons come from PTI's Everyday Button Bits.

Make it Monday # 23: Pockets

Today I have a little card I put together for the Make it Monday Challenge #23. I am having so much fun with these challenges. Sometimes I get in a little rut and need something to get me going again.
For my card I choose to use Lavender Moon, Fine Linen, Kraft and Rustic Cream for the card base. Stamp wise I used a little bit of everything. I used It's Official for the background, Fancy Florishes, and Happy Trails. The insert for my pocket is stamped with a Happy Trails swirl that I talked about in this post.

Online Summer Card Class Week 3 Color Combo

Happy Tuesday!! Today I am hopping in to share my card for week 3 of the Summer Online Class. I used Lawn Fawn's Lunar Lights for my card today! Aren't these just adorable, whenever I get them out it doesn't take long to have a card!! :)

Moxie Fab Beautiful Borders Challenge

Hello,

Today I am sharing my card for the Moxie Fab Beautiful Borders Challenge.

The first thing I did was pull out my EK Success Embossed Curve Edger. My goal was to make a big flower as a center piece. I used some American Crafts cardstock and cut it to 1 1/2 x 12, then punched the edge. I then folded the flower and shaped it. I used PTI Beautiful Blooms die #2 to make the center flower out of yummy felt. I added some stitching for added interest and a PTI button to finish it off. I wanted the base of my card to be rather simple since the flower was the focus. So I stamped the NEW Mehndi Medallions from PTI in sweet blush onto sweet blush cardstock. To finish the card I added a sentiment from the PTI 2010 Anniversary Set.

Happy 4th of July!

Just stopping in to wish everyone a very safe and HAPPY 4th!!! Today just happens to be my hubby's birthday. For breakfast he requested waffles,which I had to wipe up from scratch because I ran out of mix. I love looking for new recipes and also love to cook so this was no problem. :)

Today I am sharing a card that I made using Papertrey Ink's Happy Trails set. The idea for this card came from a commercial I saw while watching TV. I saw squiggly lines similar to the ones found in the Happy Trails set. In the commercial the lines came together to make a flower. I played around a bit and this is what I came up with! :) The small flower uses the smallest of the swishy lines and the background is created using the largest of the lines. I am really really happy with the look, very simple but not if you know what I mean!! This is what I was talking about yesterday when I mentioned the versatility of this set!

Hello All,

I thought I would share a new card with you today. I made this card for a customer who ordered some Get well and Sympathy cards at my card party. Yesterday as I was finishing up the order my new PTI stamps came in the mail! :) I bought Happy Trails, which is a wonderful new set, and decided to throw this card together! :) (Happy Trails is a very versatile stamp set, which is number one for me when I buy stamps.) I paired the stamps with the NEW! Sassfrass Lass Sunshine Broadcast . (Which, by the way looks sold out at TwoPeas so I am glad I got my hands on in when I did!) Below is a picture of the packaging I put the cards in. Can you guess where I got the container... Yep its from PTI!! They send you these handy boxes for each stamp set and I just can't throw them all away. I just cover up their adhesive marks with ribbon and off it goes to another home! :)

Card Party Cards

A lot of people in my surrounding community could really use a sympathy card, but more than a card, they could use a lot of other things much more, like shelter and food. I live in Joplin, Mo and you have probably heard about the horrible tornado that past through here last Sunday. Thankfully my family and I were away from home and also thankfully the tornado changed directions about 1 mile or so before our house. I feel very blessed to have a home to come HOME to when so many around me don't. It is heartwarming to see all the surrounding communities come together and help ours. I put together this card with all the people who have lost loved ones in mind.

5 and Dime Cards

I recently purchased the October Afternoon 5 and Dime collection, and I absolutely love it! I have been waiting a while to buy it and finally got around to it. I have been working on a lot of cards to get published and the time has been paying off. I have three more cards that will be in the October 2011 CARDS magazine!!! This is so exciting for me and I have to say that having goals has greatly improved my SAHM life. I get so excited thinking about all the possibilities in this little hobby I love!! Thanks to all who keep up with my blog and for all your encouraging words, it makes me smile!!

Here are my two boys! Over and over again they prove what a blessing children truly are! I don't know what I would do without them in my life! Everyday Ethan is saying something precious, for example at the craft store yesterday he said " Mom I want to buy that pink girls book" I said Why? "To give it to you from the bottom of my Heart" I have no clue where he gets this stuff, but it is priceless! Owen is such a happy baby, he literally laughs when you just talk to him.

Preschool sites and a Mother's Day Card

Sometimes I get a little a head of myself when it comes to school and Ethan. I have so many activities I want to do with him that maybe I start a little to soon ( I have tons of stuff filling my closets from when I taught). Anyway, today I was remembering a days of the week song I learned in one of my education classes. It made me think of a neat way to have a visual for the song . Anyway Ethan wasn't too interested, but I thought I would share. :)

1. Print out days of the week
2. Cover with a lamination sheet ( happened to have some from student teaching 5 years ago, man I never get rid of anything)
3. Cut out and attach magnets
4. Have fun! :) (Bought blue board a while ago, glad I found a good use)

This site has tons of preschool stuff including free lesson plan sheets! It is a Christian based homeschooling site, so just what I was looking for. I need to look around some more, but what I found was awesome. Also this site has Christian preschool printables.

Purple is never really my color, but I though I would give it a try. I really like how this turned out and also really love my new PTI stamps. (Delightful Doilies and Button Boutique)

Love this card!! It is just my style!! I also love how using the button dies from PTI allows you to have the buttons and still have a flat card that can be mailed. :)

Happy Monday,

Just popping in to share a few things. First, a little card I put together for a little guy who just turned one. The stamps I used were from a set that I bought at Michaels, (I don't remember the name of the set) I just love the Owl! Also look at those cute little clouds form PTI, so adorable! I just love how this card turned out, it is very simple but cute!

I just love this picture of my three guys! They are so precious to me, I feel so blessed to have them in my life. Everyone says children grow up fast and its hard to understand until you see it for yourself. I am trying so hard to take in every precious moment before it slips away. My goal since I had Ethan has been to take at least one picture a day so I can capture special moments like the one above. This picture shows our nightly routine of reading stories to Ethan and now Owen is able to sit up an listen thanks to our bumbo from Grandma.

Before I head off I thought I would share a recipe that is sure to be a family favorite!

Easy Chicken Feta Bake

What You Need

6 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (about 2 lb.)

2 Tbsp. lemon juice, divided
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 pkg. (4 oz.) ATHENOS Crumbled Feta Cheese with Basil & Tomato
1/4 cup finely chopped red pepper
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Arrange chicken in 13x9-inch baking dish.
DRIZZLE with 1 Tbsp. of the lemon juice. Season with salt and black pepper. Top with feta cheese; drizzle with remaining 1 Tbsp. lemon juice.
BAKE 35 to 40 min. or until chicken is cooked through. Sprinkle with red pepper and parsley.

I love to find an easy recipe and boy was this easy! The lemon, red pepper and feta are a perfect fit! I just love the taste :) I paired this with hot cooked fresh green beans, tomatoes and Italian dressing and also creamy cauliflower with 3 tbs. cream cheese, salt and pepper. ( side note: Creamed cauliflower has a very different taste to me almost like mashed potatoes)

Also, before I go I wanted to share a neat site for kids crafts. Great ideas for all ages! I love learning through art and this site has a lot of art type activities with opportunities to learned!

Hello,

Just popping in to share an easy Finger paint recipe. I can across this on the Internet while searching for some activities to do with Ethan. If you don't have paint in the house this is a quick way to make some.

3T sugar
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
food coloring
liquid dishwashing detergent
med saucepan
small cups
spoon

Mix sugar and cornstarch over low heat. Add cold water stir until mixture is thick, remove from heat. Divide into five portions. Add food coloring and one drop dishwashing detergent. Let cool about 20 minutes.

Such a nice day we painted outside!

Had to add a picture of my little cutie pie! :)

Recipes, Favorites and Pictures!

Hello all,

It has been way to long since my last post, but I have found myself busy lately. Not only have I been sick with a cold, but also my husband and I got food poisoning somewhere, so that put us both out for a couple days. Before all of the sickness I worked super hard on a lot of submitting.  It is so challenging to try and get published, but trying gives me something to work towards.  Also I really enjoy the challenge. :)   To make up for lost time I have a lot I want to share today. I am trying to get it all done before the kids get up!

1. Recipes- I love finding new ones and love sharing the great ones with you all! Below is a new recipe I tried this past week. I was really thinking my hubby wouldn't like it but he did! It was so yummy and also simple, my favorite combo! I got it out of the newest Parents mag.

Pasta, Greens, and Beans

8oz. ziti                                                1 cup chicken stock
2 TBS. Olive Oil                                  3 cups cooked cannellini or other white beans, drained
2 cups chopped onion                             ground pepper
1 celery stalk (I didn't use)                       Grated Parmesan
3 cups chopped cabbage
1/2 cup chopped ham

Step 1 Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat and add salt. Add the pasta and cook until tender but not mushy, 8 to 10 minutes drain and set aside

Step 2 While the pasta is cooking, place the oil in a large skillet over medium heat; when hot add the onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add cabbage and cook until wilted, 3 to 4 minutes. Then add the ham, stock, and beans; sprinkle with salt and pepper and cook until everything is heated through - 5 to 7 minutes. If it seems dry add a little more stock or water; it should be moist but not soupy.

Step 3 Add the pasta to the bean mixture and stir gently. Taste and adjust the seasoning, sprinkle with Parmesan.
Makes 6 servings

2. Nail Polish- never been a big painter before but lately I have really wanted to. Big Splendor by Essie is my new favorite, I found it at Target. Also found Chinchilly at Walmart, which Dawn recommended and I also love it!

3. Cards- The excitement of new submission calls really get ideas rolling so needless to say I have cards coming out my ears! lol Here are a few new ones:

4. Pictures- I try to take a couple pictures a day of my boys. My husband doesn't want to miss out on a second, so he asks me everyday if I am recording and taking pictures. hehehe He is so cute! My little guy is 3 1/2 months old and Ethan with be 3 in July! Where does the time go?

5. Crafts- I love finding new things to do with Ethan! He is hard to keep up with sometimes because he is so smart! I know all moms say this, but truly he says things that blow my mind! Anyway, enough bragging! The other day we had some fun dyeing our own sand, which is actually salt. So so simple and perfect for him to do! Just take some salt ( I used 1/4 cup for each color) and put your favorite color of food coloring, mix and heat in the microwave till the salt is dry ( about 30 seconds or so) .

Wowzers!! It is simply gorgeous outside today! We have already been out cleaning our flower beds out, mulching, and fertilizing !! I can't wait for my tulips to bloom so I can take a lot of pictures! (Tulips are my absolute favorite flower ever) I have so far planted over 50 tulip bulbs and before that planted over a hundred other bulbs! Really can't wait to see them all!! Also watching a lot of Basketball ( go KU), so I am keeping pretty darn busy today!

Have you ever tried Orzo Pasta? I hadn't until a while ago and it is pretty good. Although every time I make it my husband thinks it is rice. lol Here is a quick little recipe I got from my Fitness Magazine.

Lemon Orzo
1 cup orzo
1 t. lemon zest
1 T lemon juice
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
1/4 cup fresh parsley

Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil, add the orzo and cook according to package. Drain and toss with lemon zest, lemon juice, Parmesan and parsley. Serve with Chicken I added more salt afterwards for extra flavor.

BBQ Chicken Pizza with Feta ( a Kraft Foods Recipe)
1 ready-to-use baked pizza crust (12 inch)
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, divided 1 pkg.
(6 oz.) OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Grilled Chicken Breast Strips, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce
1 pkg. (4 oz.) ATHENOS Traditional Crumbled Feta Cheese
1 small red onion, halved, sliced and separated into rings
HEAT oven to 450°F.
PLACE pizza crust on baking sheet; sprinkle with 1/2 cup mozzarella.
TOSS chicken with barbecue sauce; spoon onto crust. Top with feta, onions and remaining mozzarella.
BAKE 10 to 12 min. or until mozzarella is melted and crust is golden brown. Let stand 5 min. before cutting to serve.
Workout Update: Working out is going great! Although there are some days I don't feel like doing it I haven't missed a day :) . I am into my third week and I feel a little different, although my workout isn't very intense because of my time crunch, so it will be slow going!

Also I just have to leave you with something crafty...

Isn't it adorable? So this was my inspiration for my card. This wall art is by Chuck E Byrd on Esty, and let me tell you there is a lot of inspiration over there!

Workout update:
I was thinking working out would be a little harder with my 2 year old working out with me, but it turns out he enjoys it a lot! He really loves trying to copy the stretches and strength moves, which is super cute! So far I do strength 4 days a week with cardio and then cardio 6 days a week. This keeps me super busy, so by the time my hubby comes home I am ready to fall over! I guess it is good to be busy though!
Well I'm off to go grocery shopping, then later an early V-Day Date with the hubby! Have a happy Saturday!

Almost forgot to mention some exciting news!! I had two cards accepted for the upcoming Stamp It Mag by Papercrafts!! Super exciting and also a goal of mine for 2011!!!

I am back with my second post for the day. I am making a lot of progress because my 2 year old is very sleepy today, which is working to my advantage. I wanted to stop in and share a few of the cards I made with the Unity Stamps I just got in the mail. I have been admiring Unity Stamps from afar for a while now. Last month they had free shipping and I jumped at the chance to try some stamps from their itty bitty collection.

Workout was Great today, Ethan was a big help! He always reminds me to stretch! I thought I would pop in and share a yummy recipe that I have made a couple times! My hubby even likes it.

1 boneless chicken breast
1/2 cup Italian dressing
favorite wrap
3 T Hummus for each wrap
lettuce
2 large tomato slices for each wrap

1. Marinate chicken in dressing. Grill chicken throughly, I broil mine in the oven
2. Cut chicken into then slices
3. Spread hummus on wrap
4. Place lettuce, tomatos, and sliced chicken on top of hummus
5. Roll the wrap and enjoy!

This is super easy and healthy and my 2 year old also eats it right up! I got this recipe from a Sabra Hummus containor, which by the way is really amazing hummus!! Can you tell I like hummus!! :)

No time to make a new card today, but I do have a little tag I made this weekend with some Papertrey Ink goodies!! Just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day for all the stuff I need to do and then the stuff I want to do.

Hello,

I am going to start a little fitness challenge this coming Monday! Yippy!! I have some baby weight to lose, were talking double digits!! I would like to make a dent in that weight, but I am still trying to nurse so I have to go a little slow.

A little background:

I have been a fan of Minna Lessig since high school. My sister bought her Emergency Workout tape (VHS LOL) one summer and I loved it ! The summer after my senior year in high school I bought a couple more of her tapes that were amazing, but super hard! (Optimizer Fat Elimanator and Strength and Grace ) Now I have her book Tank Top Arms, Bikini Belly and Boy Shorts Bottom, I love this book! So I am a BIG fan of Minna and her workouts and that is why I chose this book!

In my 4 week challenge I am just going focus on my bottom area (that is where all my weight goes in pregnancy) In the book she suggests 30 minutes of cardio, I don't have time for that much and include a strength workout so I am going to do 15 mins cardio. I am also going to try and drink less Pepsi!! My favorite drink of all time!! Before little O, I was smaller than I had ever been in my adult life so it is very hard now to be back at the beginning.

PS I am mostly writing this out for my own benefit, but feel free to check in on Monday and see how my day goes! I also look forward to sharing some yummy recipes that I have found!! Thank goodness my DH eats almost anything except Spaghetti!

Hello guys,

Well, this week we got a little bit of snow, when I say little I mean about 14 to 20 inches, so not too much! :) I have been stuck in the house since Monday, which hasn't been too bad because I don't want to get my little guys out in this cold.

My card today uses some Papertrey Ink goodies! The new Little Bitty Bird set is so adorable, and I love the matching bird dies. I have been working on some publication calls, but really haven't found the time to sit down and devote some real time to it.

Well, today I decided to play along with the PTI blog hop! This month Nichole challenged everyone to use a new stamp or one that hasn't been used in a while to create a project.

I decided to use the On My Couch set, this was my VERY first stamp set I purchased from PTI and I absolutely love it, but I have so many new sets that this one kind of gets left out!

I stamped the little couch on some PTI felt and then cut it out. (Still don't have the die)

I tried to make the card a little more interesting by turning the American Crafts Pattern Paper, and putting the couch on a Martha Stewart doily. (Not to sure if I like the paper turned)

Moxie Fab Bright and Bold Challenge

OK finally getting some time to blog a little! I have been trying to get back into the swing of crafty, but little O and big brother keep me pretty busy. Any hoot I decided I wanted to give a Moxie Fab Challenge a try. I choose the Bright and Bold colors because they weren't colors I would normally work with and hey it is a challenge right.

We are just back from a 10 hour plus trip to Colorado for a friends wedding! So needless to say it is a pajama wearing, snuggling with blankets and hot cocoa sort of day!

Although there are tons of clothes to be washed and tons to be reorganized I wanted to pop in and share some cards made with a couple of new stamp sets from PTI (best Christmas presents ever). The first card is made with the Banner Builder Stamp set!! Love Love Love it!! Will probably be using it every chance I get!!

Next is a little card made for the lovely couple from the Colorado wedding! This set is Love Birds by Dawn McVey also from PTI, but you probably know who she is! Such a fun set and great for upcoming V-Day!

One Week Old today!

It seems like just yesterday I was ~~patiently~~ waiting for my new baby boy to come and now he is already a week old! He was four days late, but when he was ready man was he ready! He came in a total of 3 hours from start to finish, we just made it to the hospital and he was here 10 minutes later. The above pictures was taken by my cousin yesterday at our newborn shoot.

Here is a quick card I put together while both boys were sleeping and I woke up early from my nap.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Christmas Tag

After buying the PTI Tag Sale 1 I am now completely obsessed with making tags! Although birthday tag ideas come flowing out, I have been struggling with Christmas Tags. I was searching for ideas, something that would spark an idea and came across this idea using recycled christmas wrapping paper. Here is what I did to make it my own.

I used the Pure Poppy distressed dot pattern paper along with some Fine Linen paper for the middle layer. The strips were cut into 1/2 by 3 inch strips. I used the Martha Stewart Glue pen to glue the ends together, then glue dots to glue the strips onto a 1 1/2 inch circle. Finished the center off with a dark chocolate button complete with button twine.

My second tag uses the new flower die that goes along with the Signature Series Flower Stamp Set. While brainstorming ideas I thought that using just two die cuts of the flower I could make it look like a poinsettia. I really like how it turned out. This tag definitely took a lot less time to make so I plan on making more if I have time before our new addition arrives. :) I love the look of the red polka dots on the kraft cardstock. I also did a lot of distressing with the tea dye duo and I love how it turned out!

So here is what I came up with.

I over did it on housework one day last week (nesting). Anyway Ethan and I were super bored.

Hello all,

Don't know if I will submit it or not. This was my first attempt to raise the flower petals, I did a little ink distressing so the petals would pop a little.

Waddle Waddle, Potty Training, and some exciting news!!

Exciting news first!!! I received an email yesterday from "THE CARDS MAGAZINE", and they wanted to publish one of my cards. I was so happy, mainly because you never think it will happen and when it does you are blown away. Funny story, I wasn't even going to try and submit anymore till after the baby, but I had a few cards made and figured what the heck one last time. Good thing I tried!

I honestly can't believe I even have patience for making cards because if you know me you know I have trouble sitting still doing one thing for long. Even with things like the tv I am always doing something else when a show is on. Anyway, when my hubby and I decided that I would be a stay at home mommy, I prayed long and hard that God would help me find something that I was good at. (You know to keep me from going crazy in between diaper changes and cleaning the kitchen for the hundredth time.) I had tried making cards before, but just wasn't interested. Until, I think it was my sister, suggested that I make invites for my sons first birthday party. Well I really got hooked! Still am hooked or a little obsessed, which ever word you prefer to use! :)

Moving on, I now have 4 weeks left until my due date, and I have to say I have picked up a little waddle waddle in my step. I am officially uncomfortable in all my clothes and feeling pretty big. Most day I just want to slip into my husbands big tshirts and forget about looking cute. Needless to say I am ready to meet this little boy soon! We are hoping he is here before Thanksgiving, fingers crossed! Big brother is OK with the idea of the little one most days, but every now and then he just isn't interested! Hoping he handles it alright.
Which brings me to the next thing, POTTY TRAINING! I am pretty sure that it will be the death of me. Most days we are doing pretty good, others I just want to leave the room and cry. lol He does try hard, but I think I may have started to soon, but it is to late now! So they say, that once you start you can't go back. The only thing in my mind was having to change two babies diapers all day long and how wonderful it would be for one to be potty trained. OOPS ! Anyway we will get there some day!

Fun Crafting Time...

I got super excited when I came across this idea from lovelydesign. I decided to pull out all my craft stuff and let Ethan have a little fun painting.

This is a picture of some of the leaves he painted all by himself. He is the perfect age for starting a craft time! He also loves it so much. After we got all cleaned up he said "I love to paint mom" warmed my little heart.

Here is the finished project, not bad for a 2 year old (with a little help from mom)

Lately I haven't had a whole lot of time to make cards, because I have been frantic to organize! It must be nesting because I am never motivated to organize closets, but man the last two weeks has been crazy! Anyway I wanted a scrapbook page to hang in the boys room and also wanted to hang up the sonogram pictures so decided to do a scrapbook page.

I don't really get to excited to do scrapbook pages, not sure why, but I actually like how this turned out.

Well HELLO and thanks for stopping by! Today I have a simple card I made for a good friend from high school that just got married. I was thinking back to three years ago when I got married and how exciting it was to get mail with my new name on it! I decided that since Anna loves to get mail, I would just send her a simple little card.
I love the new Wreath for all Seasons set from Papertrey Ink! I originally bought it to use for Christmas cards, but soon realized that it can be used for a ton more than that.

I also must share a super easy potato soup recipe that I tried out today for lunch! This was so simple and yummy! I just added a little scoop of sour cream to my bowl and it was to die for!
I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and man oh man am I hungry all the time. The bad thing is that when I crave something, I just go whip it up and if I don't have the ingredients I run out and get them. Last week it was chocolate pudding pie (had to home make the crust but it was way worth it). Although I keep telling myself I need to slow down, but that doesn't seem to work. :) My husband has already requested Pumpkin Pie, which I have no problem with!

September 2010 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Well, I am super excited to have finally remembered the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop on the right day! This time it is an all day thing, which really works much better for me!!!

For today's blog hop Nichole asked everyone to create a project using one of your favorite learned skills that you have learned from a fellow blogger or friend. For the past year or so I have been really in to blog hopping, and usually visit certain blogs once a week to make sure I haven't missed anything. One blog I always go to first is Dawn McVey's Blog. She always has something very inspirational on there, whether it is color combos or techniques. The one I use the most is her poofy vintage print flower, I am always going back and reviewing her video.

Here is my take on the poofy flower.

Instead of the scalloped circle punch I did use the PTI Beautiful Blooms 2 #2 die and I still think it works.

Here is a little gift card holder I made for a fall birthday.

A boy birthday card using PTI's Everyday button bits stamp set. I used some Basic Grey Buttons for the balloons

I love the colors of this card. So vintage and perfect for a boy baby shower card.
This card uses a lot of Papertrey Ink supplies, except for the ribbon and ek success punch

I love how simple this card is!

This card is a play off of this card my Maile Belles. Instead of wrapping the string around I decided
to just have a bow. This card is Pure Poppy by PTI I just couldn't get the color right.

I am very much looking forward to the Card Party on Saturday. A friend of mine thought it sounded like a good idea, and I think it sounds like fun. Time to see some friends and display a lot of cards!

Bridal Shower card and some books....

Well, I can't believe it has been almost a month, but I have good reason for being missing in action. I have been reading a lot of really good books and making a ton of cards for an upcoming card party.

Miss Match is a really cute book, that I would never have guessed was a first for Erynn. It was really cute, but I must warn it is written for a younger crowd. Some parts of it seemed a little immature, but I was in the mood for a light hearted book so it didn't bother me.

I just finished "Love Starts with Elle" and boy did I love this novel. It was kind of one of those books that had the message I really needed to hear so it made it that much better to read. I actually couldn't put it down. Great author, can't wait to read another one of her books!

Dawn McVey had recommended "Dawn's Prelude" a while ago and I finally got around to starting it. So far so good!

Finally, I will leave you of one of the over fifty cards I have made in the last month! I made this card for my friend's Bridal Shower. She loves orange so I gave it a try for her card.

Hello there,

I was very excited to get some new supplies from PTI that I have been waiting to get for a long time, including tea dye duo, and button twine!! I love them both and can easily find a reason to use them on almost every card!.
I took the "It's Official' stamp set and did a little stamping with the ticket stamp, bingo card, notebook lines and ruler. Put it all together and came up with a card perfect for a teacher to give another teacher, a teacher to a student, or parent to teacher. I was a teacher a couple of years ago and wish I would have been stamping back then, it would have been fun to hand these cards out.

Discontinued my paper cutter...

I was very sad to learn that they discontinued my Fiskars paper cutter! I actually went in to buy a new blade and noticed, not only do they not have a blade to replace my old one they no longer carry anything. I am left with either buying a new cutter, or finding replacement blades online for as long as I can. I found this new card making fiskars cutter online and at Michaels today and was thinking about getting it. The price is kind of right at $ 15.00, considering with tax and shipping online would be pretty expensive to buy for my current cutter.

Anyway this is very frustrating, because I have some orders for cards that I need to work on asap!

Bigger Belly and First Doile Card

Well, my belly feels really big today, but I think that is 80 % because I had about two too many Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies (they literally melt in your mouth)! I am officially 25 weeks, and I am starting to feel like it is forever before we meet baby boy number 2. That could be because I have two sister in laws who have new babies (well one on the way) and also a sister due in a few weeks. Any hoot, I feel like Dec 1st seems far away.

In other news, I tried my hand at both the use of felt and the use of a doilies on a card. I wasn't sure how to attach felt so I asked a couple of bloggers that I follow and was able to find out that the best way is with glue dots. Man those things sure are handy to have!
I found the doilies at Michael's in the baking isle (Wilton brand) and the felt is a thick brand from Michael's also, but you have to be careful because another piece I got there totally didn't work. I have PTI felt on my list of things to buy in the near future. :)

Today I have two cards to share with you. I made these for a friend who is very busy with baby showers and her own wedding showers!( I have actually had a couple people ask me to make cards for them which makes me really happy! :) ) Any hoot, the first card is very similar to a baby card Dawn McVey did on her blog a while ago, but I made it my own and used a different stamp set. The little boat is from Martha Stewarts Transportation set, which is perfect for little boy cards!

For the little girl card I used Hero Arts clear Happy Animals stamp. I thought this little lamb was so cute. I colored it in with some copic markers and a little glitter.

Well I think that is all for today, my son just woke up and is ready to play!

Well, it has been a couple days since my last post, so I figured I would upload a card I just completed today while E was sleeping. I was wanting to practice using a ruler and black pen to make lines on cards. I lost my really good pen so I used my Martha Stewart Marker to make the lines. I have seen Nicole Heady make lines on her cards and they are so perfect, I wanted to work on that look. I have a long way to go to get them that perfect, but I was pleased with the card today. I am not very good with baby girl cards because my family seems to just have boys, well that has changed in the last couple months. My sister in law just had a precious baby girl and my sister is having a girl in less than a month. I guess I better get to practicing on girl cards! Embellish Color Challenge with BIRDS!

I have a super quick post for today! I came across this lovely Embellish Color Challenge a couple of days ago and decided that I would give it a try. I really really love these colors and simply chartreuse from Papertrey Ink is a color that for the past month I use on almost every card. I just love that color. I pulled out my Basic Birds Stamp set from TAC since the sponsor of the challenge is TAC's Chris Franco. I really like the deep chocolate brown ribbon and I feel it finishes the card of nicely!

CARDS Pinwheel challenge

I sure had a lot of fun with these little pinwheels! They are fast and easy to make and really make a fun addition to a cute card. I used Basic Grey Kraft pattern paper for the actual pinwheel, along with the stem of a Q-Tip stained with Colorbox Charcoal Chalk Ink. I wanted to make a really simple card so that the pinwheel was the real focus. I simply stamped Hero Arts clouds background with Aqua Mist by Papertrey Ink. I used Chartreuse paper to make a hill and a little sentiment from Everyday button bits also by Papertrey Ink.

My husband's birthday just happens to be the 4th of July, so here is the card I made him this year.

I created the patterned squares for this card using Papertrey's Polka Dot 2 stamp set, along with PTI's Dahlia set and Sassafras Lass Blooms and Stalks set. The sentiment is from the Everyday button bits set which I really love! I gained inspiration for this card from the July 2010 issue of Better Homes and Gardens. I love it when you see the cover of a magazine and you immediately have hundreds of ideas for cards!

Well after 2 and half months of no cards, or even looking at stamps I finally feel good enough to make some! I am just now 16 weeks pregnant and when I am pregnant I have a rough couple months, but now I am getting to the good part. I had a lot of fun thinking of ways to use buttons, but when I saw this button paper from Cosmo Cricket: Material Girl line I knew it would be perfect for the Blog hop! Dinner Recipe

I like to cook, but hate having to search for things to make, I guess I want someone to make a menu for the week. Anyway I thought I would share an easy recipe that I found over. This recipe is really easy and really good!

Bruschetta Chicken Bake

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 pkg. Stove top stuffing mix for chicken

1 1/2 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bit sized pieces

1 tsp. dried basil leaves

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 400 'F. Place tomatoes with liquid in medium bowl. Add garlic and stuffing mix and 1/2 cup water; stir just until stuffing is moistened. Set aside

Place chicken in 13 x9 in baking dish; sprinkle with basil and cheese. Top with stuffing mixture.

Bake 30 Min or until chicken is cooked through.

I saw this recipe in the Kraft Food and Family Magazine, they have a lot of great stuff in there. This would be great with a salad and a veggie!

My inspiration for today's card comes from the new cover of Better Homes and Gardens. When I first saw this cover I got a huge smile on my face, which may sound weird, but the colors are so beautiful! The picture doesn't quite do them justice, but they are so clear and spring like. I knew I had to make a card!

Here is the card! I used Heros Arts Large Flower Cling stamp along with a sentiment from Scattered Showers. I added some lemongrass ribbon from offray to finish the card!

Here is my third and probably final card that I am entering into the Moxie Fab Stamping Olympics. My little guy has taken an extra long nap today so I was able to wrap up some of my posts.
